The New York Mets secured a two-game series sweep over their crosstown rivals, the New York Yankees, on Wednesday night when Starling Marte won it with a walk-off hit against Yanks left-hander Wandy Peralta.

Eduardo Escobar‘s leadoff double set up the situation, then Marte brought him home to win it for the Mets.

Marte has been at the center of several walk-offs during his career, which spans all the way back to his early days with the Pittsburgh Pirates.

Sarah Langs of MLB.com tweeted an interesting fact about Marte and his affinity for ending games, that he has 11 walk-off hits since the start of the 2014 season, which is the most in baseball during that span.

Marte just seems to have a thing for walk-offs.

His ability to come through in the clutch is impeccable, and he did it again last night against the best team in all of baseball.

He was brought in by the Mets this past offseason and has proven to be a nice little spark plug for them.

In five at-bats last night, he had two hits and brought his batting average up to .300.

In addition to that, the Mets star right fielder has hit 10 home runs and driven in 43 runs, as well as posted an OPS of .814.

Marte has been everything the Mets needed, and he came through again last night with the game on the line, helping the Mets overcome their crosstown rivals.

Marte has a knack for coming through in situations where a walk-off is possible and he did it again last night.

The win helped the Mets expand their lead in the NL East by three games over the Atlanta Braves.
