Linebacker Micah Parsons has been a spark plug for the Dallas Cowboys defense from the get-go.
He was last year’s Defensive Rookie of the Year after a season with 84 tackles, 13 sacks, three forced fumbles, and three passes defended.
Those numbers also earned him First-Team All-Pro and Pro Bowl selections.
Meanwhile, the Pro Football Writers Association named him to their 2021 All-Rookie Team.
The former Penn State standout picked up where he left off during their 2022 season opener against the Tampa Bay Buccaneers.
Though they lost the game, Parsons had four tackles and two sacks.
He was the only Cowboys player that got to quarterback Tom Brady.
But aside from establishing his case as one of the best pass rushers in the game, his Week 1 performance also made him a part of NFL history.

The Athletic’s Jon Machota tweeted, “According to the Cowboys, Micah Parsons is one of five players in NFL history to have 15.0 sacks in his first 17 games, joining John Abraham (15.5), Joey Bosa (15.0), Jevon Kearse (15.0) and Aldon Smith (15.0).”
It’s an impressive group to be a part of because Abraham was a three-time All-Pro and five-time Pro Bowler.
Kearse also became Defensive Rookie of the Year, an All-Pro member, and a Pro Bowler in 1999.
Smith was a one-time All-Pro who had 19.5 sacks in his second NFL season.
Finally, Bosa is the 2016 Defensive Rookie of the Year and a four-time Pro Bowler.
Aside from lining up in his natural position, Parsons also suited up at defensive end when DeMarcus Lawrence went down with an injury.
He used his speed to create mismatches against bigger offensive linemen.
Parsons will look to add more sacks to his resume when the Cowboys face the Cincinnati Bengals in Week 2.
Like what the Pittsburgh Steelers did in Week 1, he will put the Bengals offensive line to the test.
